According to a Facebook post from MPD, K9 Kimber was put to sleep on Wednesday surrounded by her handler, family and friends.
Kimber worked with MPD for five years. As stated in the post, she specialized in narcotics detection and community relations.
“Kimber brought joy to countless people, particularly children, as she attended events like school visits and the county fair,” MPD said. “Her enthusiasm and friendly nature made her an invaluable presence within our community.”
MPD said the City of Martinsville sent Kimber off by escorting her through the city as she headed to the veterinary clinic.
