Janesville man sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Nelson Curtis-Hunter, 28, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl and recording it.

In 2023, Janesville Police received a tip that Curtis-Hunter was downloading child pornography. When officers searched his home, they found multiple videos of him sexually assaulting a child.

Assistant District Attorney Alex Goulart called Curtis-Hunter’s crimes “egregious” during his sentence hearing.

“First, I have to thank Tammy Stuckey for her empathetic work with this young victim,” said Goulart, who then thanked Detective Winiarski for his thorough investigation, adding that “it must be difficult to watch and review the voluminous, horrifying digital evidence in this case.” District Attorney Jason Sanders added that “The community cannot feel good that these crimes happen, but we should at least feel good that Rock County’s police and prosecutors are committed to putting in the hard work, together, to get serious punishment for child sex predators.”

Curtis-Hunter faces 50 total years in the Wisconsin Prison System. When he is released, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
