The former Bulls MVP returned to the South Side Thursday to throw out the first pitch at the White Sox home opener, where he was showered with MVP chants from the crowd.
“It’s surreal. It’s always surreal. But, I’m a businessman now and a dad.”
Rose threw plenty of practice pitches before walking out to the mound and the extra tosses paid off with a picture perfect strike.
The Englewood native let out a loud scream in excitement after word but was still asked how he thought it went.
“What you think? Yaaaaaa. For you to ask, you already know. My brother’s going to tell me I did a great job. They’re my hardest critics. I think I did pretty good.”
Rose’s son London also showed off his arm strength making the special occasion that much sweeter for dad.
“My job is just to tame him. He’s got a lot of dragon energy. He’s a loving kid. I’m in his life to just be there and just to help. Right?”
London nodded in approval.
