Boulet said downtown has hit the ground running this last year with various partnerships, projects and investments enchancing the district`s growth. She said that the event allows her and her administration to “get a temperature from the downtown businesses of what’s what’s going on in their world.”
“Now we are moving our LUS fiber into the LeMoyne Building, and I am going to have a remote office down here very soon,” she said. “So I’m excited.”
Kevin Blanchard, CEO of Lafayette’s Downtown Development Authority said this annual breakfast with the Mayor-President helps keep the focus on the ever-changing landscape of downtown.
“It’s good to keep on top of things,” Blanchard said. “We’ve got a new hotel project coming downtown, 83 room boutique hotel with a restaurant/brewery.”
Blanchard and other city leaders agreed that keeping things clean is a key focus for Lafayette, especially with Festival International right around the corner.
“We’ve got a new ambassador program we’re going to for people seven days a week on the streets, pressure washing, picking up litter, keeping the flowerbeds nice, all the cigarette butts picked up,” Blanchard said. “So, yeah, there’s a lot of good stuff happening right now downtown.”
