BOUTTE, La. (WGNO) — A man from Calcasieu Parish was arrested in Boutte on March 25 after a traffic stop turned to a drug and gun investigation.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies performed the stop on Paul Maillard Road at Tinney Street due to a reported traffic violation committed by a black Nissan Altima.

Deputies say during the stop, they spoke with 30-year-old Briste Williams, of DeQuincy, and smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the alleged discovery of the following items:

  • 914 grams of marijuana.
  • 14 grams of cocaine.
  • Seven tapentadol pills.
  • One ZEV 9mm handgun.
  • 27 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
  • One Smith and Wesson .223 caliber AR Pistol.
  • 10 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition.

Williams was arrested and faces the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
  • Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS.
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
  • Possession of firearm/carrying concealed by a convicted felon (2 counts.)
  • Prohibited acts-schedule II.
  • Taking contraband to/from a penal institutions-prohibited.
  • Disobeying traffic control signals.
  • Driver must be licensed.
  • Fugitive warrant.
