BOUTTE, La. (WGNO) — A man from Calcasieu Parish was arrested in Boutte on March 25 after a traffic stop turned to a drug and gun investigation.
According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies performed the stop on Paul Maillard Road at Tinney Street due to a reported traffic violation committed by a black Nissan Altima.
Deputies say during the stop, they spoke with 30-year-old Briste Williams, of DeQuincy, and smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the alleged discovery of the following items:
- 914 grams of marijuana.
- 14 grams of cocaine.
- Seven tapentadol pills.
- One ZEV 9mm handgun.
- 27 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
- One Smith and Wesson .223 caliber AR Pistol.
- 10 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition.
Williams was arrested and faces the following charges:
- Possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
- Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS.
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
- Possession of firearm/carrying concealed by a convicted felon (2 counts.)
- Prohibited acts-schedule II.
- Taking contraband to/from a penal institutions-prohibited.
- Disobeying traffic control signals.
- Driver must be licensed.
- Fugitive warrant.
