Caddo Parish ranked among best places in Louisiana for small business owners

CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Caddo Parish is ranked among the best places in Louisiana for small business owners.

A new study by SmartAsset determined how attractive a region is for small business owners based on five factors:

• the percentage of people in a county with small business income
• the percentage of total income coming from small businesses
• the amount of tax a potential resident must pay on their income
• the five-year change of small business ownership rate
• the five-year change of small business income

In recent years, officials and small business owners have worked together to create opportunities for both small businesses and residents to thrive. Last year, Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux initiated a series of town hall meetings through his small business task force. The

purpose of these meetings was to gather feedback from local businesses regarding their experiences with permitting, zoning, and other city services. Businesses in the Shreveport-Bossier area also launched “Destination 318” earlier this year in an effort to enhance tourism and drive economic growth in the region.

The study chose 10 Louisiana parishes for small business owners, including Natchitoches, East Carroll, Jefferson, and Terrebonnes.
