Demonstrations are planned at 500 Tesla dealerships on Saturday to protest Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency. Most of the planned demonstrations are in the United States, with at least seven planned for the Chicago area.
Critics say Musk and the DOGE group are destroying democracy with their controversial actions to slash government spending.
The demonstrators urge owners of Tesla vehicles and stock to sell. While some dealerships have been vandalized, organizers say the day of action will be peaceful.
“Tesla Takedown is a peaceful protest movement. We oppose violence, vandalism and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly,” said a statement on ActionNetwork.org, which is advertising the event.
