A traffic safety checkpoint was established on KY-552 approximately seven miles south of London. Around 1:30 p.m., a Laurel County Sheriff’s Office K9 detected the presence of drugs while inspecting a pickup truck.
Deputies located a bag of methamphetamine under the car’s hood and arrested the driver, identified as 81-year-old William Clontz. Investigators determined he was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was operating the vehicle without a valid license.
Clontz was charged with trafficking a controlled substance and multiple traffic violations. Deputies also seized a large quantity of cash.
