In early January, Kohl’s Corp announced that it would be closing 27 locations in 15 states around the country that were “underperforming.”
While many of the stores set to close were in California, two Chicagoland locations were on the list.
According to the company, the two Chicagoland stores that are set to close are located in Plainfield, in the 11800 block of South Route 59, and West Dundee, at Spring Hill Mall in the 3000 block of Spring Hill Road.
In a press release shared in early January, the company said that the stores were expected to close by April.
Staff at the West Dundee location confirmed to WGN News that the store would be closing its doors by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 26, while staff at the Plainfield location said the store would be closing its doors permanently on Friday, March 28.
Following the announcement of the planned closures, all of the employees at the impacted locations were offered severance packages or the ability to apply to other open roles within the company.
In total, Kohl’s operates more than 1,150 locations around the country, including 64 in Illinois.
