LAFAYETTE, La. (
KLFY) — Lafayette’s only locally owned alcohol distributor, Schilling Distributing, is joining forces with Folds of Honor to offer two scholarships to local students who have a parent who is a fallen or disabled military veteran or first responder.
As a third-generation veteran-owned and operated business, Schilling Distributing is all about taking care of those who take care of us. They’ve proven it with fundraisers like the one in 2016 where they helped raise over $240,000 for the Moncus Park Veterans Memorial.
Funds for the Folds of Honor scholarships, valued at $5,000 each, were raised during the recent visit of the Budweiser Clydesdale horses. Schilling Distributing was able to sell merchandise, plus food and beverages donated from local businesses like Don’s Specialty Meats and Old Tyme Grocery.
Schilling Distributing plans to continue raising money year-round, with the hopes of rewarding more Folds of Honor scholarships in the years to come.
Qualifying students can apply for the Folds of Honor scholarship here by March 31.
