On March 12, police were called to a home where a man was behaving unruly and threatening a family member. After he barricaded himself inside, Cisco police forced entry into the house with the homeowner’s consent.
According to the Cisco Police Department, the man charged at the officers when they entered his home and became combative. While attempting to contain him, one officer was stabbed in the rib cage with a knife. Fortunately, the officer’s ballistic vest prevented any serious injury. However, he did sustain cuts on his hands while trying to remove the knife.
The department reported that another officer was assaulted by the suspect, who grabbed and pinched the officer’s shoulder, causing minor injuries. The 46-year-old suspect was apprehended and treated at Eastland Memorial Hospital. After receiving treatment, the suspect was booked into the Eastland County Jail on multiple assault charges. The suspect’s identity has not been publicly disclosed at this time.
The officer received treatment and was released. The Cisco Police Department is grateful to the Cisco Fire Department, Eastland County Sheriff’s Office, EMS Services and the Eastland Police Department for their assistance.
