Change a Child’s Story: How Big Country CASA makes a difference in foster kids’ lives

BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Have you ever considered making a difference in the life of a child in foster care? At Big Country CASA, you can become a court-appointed special advocate, providing support and a voice for youth in need. Keep reading to learn how you can help ‘Change a Child’s Story.’

How Big Country CASA helps foster kids navigate the court system

Board of Directors member and CASA volunteer Kasey Leavell explains the vital role CASA volunteers play in supporting foster children. Navigating the challenges of foster care is already difficult, but facing them in a courtroom can add even more stress to a child’s life. CASA volunteers step in to provide guidance, advocacy, and a reassuring presence during these uncertain times.

Big Country Resilience: CASA volunteers help foster kids find their path

Theresa Collins and Jonathan Leverton grew up in foster care, facing different challenges but sharing the same desire — to be seen, heard, and valued.

Now, both are ending the cycle of hopelessness, with Leverton becoming the person he wished he had and Collins embodying the CASA volunteer she did have.

Supporting foster kids: Big Country CASA volunteers offer hope & guidance

When a child enters foster care, their world is turned upside down. One local nonprofit, Big Country CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates), provides a steady presence in their lives beyond the justice system.

We hear from Big Country CASA Executive Director Lee Ann Millender and CASA volunteer Rob Davidson as they share just a glimpse of what this organization — and their dedication — has to offer.
