Police: Rockford man ‘pistol whips’ woman during home invasion
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Antonio Nevitt, 52, for hitting a woman with a machine gun and strangling her during a home invasion, according to court records.

On March 25, around midnight, officers responded to the 500 block of Locust Street for reports of a man with a firearm. On the 911 call, men could be heard saying “shoot em Tony,” police reported.

The victim told authorities that residents of the house accused Nevitt of stealing $300 from the house before the incident. The suspect escalated the situation by grabbing the woman by the neck, pushing her into a corner and hitting her with the barrel of his gun, court documents show.

A witness told officials he saw her get “pistol whipped” by an Uzi machine gun. Nevitt also said, “I’ll blow your brains out” to the woman, officers reported.

Camera footage viewed by police showed Nevitt attacking the woman as described by the victim and witnesses.

Nevitt is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing strangulation, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and invading a home with a firearm.
