Izard County Health Unit offering tetanus vaccinations for residents working debris cleanup

In the aftermath of recent storms, the Izard County Office of Emergency Management is warning residents involved in debris cleanup of an increased risk of injuries that could lead to tetanus infections.
Tetanus, often called lockjaw, is a bacterial disease that affects the nervous system and typically enters the body through cuts or puncture wounds.

The Izard County Health Unit in Melbourne is offering free vaccinations for those participating in storm cleanup efforts.

Residents can schedule an appointment by calling (870) 368-7790.

The health unit is located at 149 Haley St. in Melbourne.
