Freeport felony arrest uncovers child pornography on suspect’s cell phone: Police

FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police said an arrest of a felon on weapons possession led to an investigation that discovered child pornography on his cell phone.

According to Freeport Police, Michael Arbuckle, 47, was arrested on January 16th when police conducted a search warrant at his home in the 1000 block of S. State Avenue.

Authorities said a loaded semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the residence, even though Arbuckle, who has a prior conviction, is lawfully barred from possessing one.

However, authorities said child pornography images were found stored on his cell phone.

As a result of the investigation, Arbuckle now faces 11 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
