South Carolina State Forestry Commission provided three tractors, as well as staff and leadership, to help contain the fire.
Fire crews from Sage Mill and Aiken Department of Public Safety were also thanked by name by GVW Fire Department for their assistance.
AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to avoid two different areas due to brush fires and the efforts of first responders to contain those fires on Wednesday.
Emergency crews are currently fighting a large brush fire near the intersection of New Holland Road and Glass Rope Lane just south of New Holland Fire Department Station 2 and South Fork Edisto River Boat Landing. Law enforcement is asking that the public avoid the area.
A second brush fire is also being fought closer outside Vaucluse, S.C, near the intersection of Vaucluse Road and Good Springs Road. Law enforcement is aiding emergency fire crews by blocking streets in the area to allow first responders and State Forestry to work.
A statewide burning ban is still in place for the state of South Carolina.
