The driver of the pickup truck, identified only as a 46-year-old man from West Valley City, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The driver of the school bus received a citation at the scene for following too closely, according to the Tooele City Police Department.

Crews were dispatched to the 725 N Main Street at around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The bus was traveling south on Main Street after a field trip to the zoo.
The truck, a white F-150, was also traveling south, and officials said the driver had stopped for a pedestrian that was crossing Main Street.
“The school bus ran into the back of the F-150,” police said. “Pieces of metal that had been in the back of the F-150 made contact with the front windshield of the school bus.”
Officials said the driver of the bus was not injured by the debris hitting the windshield. Aside from the truck driver and two students, no other injuries were reported.
