Players and cheerleaders alike are gearing up for the annual Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Big 33 Football Classic. The event, dubbed “the Super Bowl of High School Football,” features Pennsylvania’s team vs Maryland on Memorial Day weekend.
Both teams feature the best from each state, with a selection committee determining who gets to participate.
Cheerleaders go through tryouts, and a buddy program pairs people with special needs with football players and cheerleaders for activities and events.
On Monday, football players, cheerleaders, and buddies were celebrated by lawmakers with an award presentation at the state capitol.
Pennsylvania’s team is looking to continue its five-year winning streak at Cumberland Valley High School at the 68th BIG 33 Football Classic.
Event organizers are still looking for more buddies for the buddy program. Interested parties can sign up here.
