According to multiple Yorktown Fire Department Facebook posts, crews were called to the 1100 block of Sarasota Drive around 2:13 p.m. to investigate a structure fire. Initial reports received by YFD indicated at least one person was trapped inside the burning residence.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw heavy smoke pushing from a one-story home. Per YFD, members of the Yorktown Police Department helped one person evacuate the burning house before firefighters made it to the area.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze, but the home’s exterior and interior still sustained significant damage. YFD confirmed no firefighters were injured during the incident.
Yorktown fire officials received assistance at the scene from the East Madison Fire Territory and the Daleville-Salem Township Fire Protection Territory.
