Cherry Valley man accused of forcing a lit ‘blunt’ into a pregnant woman’s throat

CHERRY VALLEY, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Benjamin Schroeder, 25, for forcing a pregnant woman to swallow a lit “blunt”, among other charges.

On March 10, around noon, officers received reports of a domestic battery incident in the 100 block of Lawrence Street. The victim had already been taken to Swedish American Hospital for her injuries.

The woman told authorities the suspect strangled and burnt her two days before.

Schroeder pulled the victim out of bed, dragged her by her wrists to the upstairs bathroom and started choking her, according to court records. Reports show He said, “I need to wash your feet.”

After the woman defended herself, the woman told authorities he left the room and came back with a lit “blunt” that he forced into her mouth.

Doctors reported she had a burn in the back of her throat. The baby was unharmed during the incident.

The suspect was later found in Wisconsin and taken into custody.

Schroeder is charged with two counts of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery causing bodily harm and aggravated battery causing strangulation.

He was granted pretrial release on March 25th.
