In late December, Rafael Corona’s white 2017 Subaru Forester SUV was stolen from his garage near Cermak Road and Ridgeland Avenue in Berwyn. The family’s 14-year-old tan and white Pomeranian, Wally, was inside the vehicle at the time.
Corona shared the sad update Sunday on Facebook, saying in part: “Today, I was informed that my stolen vehicle was recovered. My boy Wally was found still inside, deceased. He likely froze shortly after the vehicle was stolen.”
Corona also expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped try to find Wally and who shared his story.
“Sometimes when I was out looking for him, I felt hopeless and frustrated. No clues to go off of, no leads. At least now I was able to see him one last time, and say goodbye properly to my dear friend.”
No further details have been provided at this time.
