GARLAND, Utah (ABC4) — A Utah driver was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained after a turkey crashed through their windshield on I-15 on Saturday. The turkey died at the scene.

According to the Garland Fire Department, the turkey was crossing the interstate when it was hit by the driver and “went through the windshield of the vehicle.”

The driver was taken to a local hospital “in good spirits,” and their injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. No other injuries were reported, but officials said “the turkey unfortunately succumbed to its injuries.”

“There are plenty of dangers when traveling at high speeds down the interstate,” the fire department said in a social media post. “Including turkeys. Yes, you read that right.”

The incident occurred on northbound I-15 near exit 385 on Saturday evening. The Garland Fire Department used this incident as an opportunity to remind drivers to keep an eye out for wildlife in the area.

“Garland Fire has seen multiple vehicle accidents involving wildlife, including Elk & Moose, on this stretch of interstate,” the social media post reads. “With the warmer weather approaching, we expect to see more sightings.”
