Monday forecast: Staying windy, but sun will come out around Chicagoland by afternoon

After a dreary, rainy Sunday, the sun will come out around Chicagoland on Monday to start the work week.

But it’ll remain very windy, with temperatures at about seasonal levels.

A mostly cloudy start to the day will yield to sunny skies, moving west to east, as we approach late morning and early afternoon. Westerly winds will stay strong all day, sustained at 20 to 25 miles per hour and gusting up to 35.

Those winds dropped wind-chills values into the 20s in the early-morning hours Monday, while air temps ranged in the 30s.

High temps later Monday will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s, right around the normal high of 50 for March 24 at O’Hare International Airport.

Looking ahead

High temps look to remain right around that seasonal 50-degree mark for the early part of the week, with a chance for rain on Tuesday, more likely in southern areas.

Then, we’re headed for a nice warm-up later this week, with highs into the mid-60s. But the early forecast for the weekend shows plenty of rain, especially on Sunday.
