BATON ROUGE, La. (
Louisiana First) — The St. Gabriel community is mourning the loss of Officer Darius Faveroth, who was remembered as more than just a colleague but a member of the department’s family.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of one of our own. Officer Faveroth was not just a colleague but a beloved member of the St. Gabriel Police Department family,” the department said in a statement.
City officials also expressed their condolences, acknowledging Faveroth’s impact on the community.
“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Officer Darius Faveroth, a dedicated member of the St. Gabriel Police Department,” the city said in a social media post.
“On behalf of the Mayor and City Council, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, Police Chief Ambeau, and the entire St. Gabriel Police Department.”
Authorities have not yet released further details surrounding his death, but the department is asking the community to keep his loved ones in their thoughts.
“During this incredibly difficult time, we ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers,” the police department said.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry extended his condolences, remembering Faveroth’s dedication to service.
“Please join Sharon and me in praying for the Faveroth family,” Landry said. “Darius Faveroth served as an Officer in the St. Gabriel Police Department for two years and was with the White Castle Police Department for three years. Darius was also a Specialist in the Louisiana National Guard. I had the pleasure of meeting him on our visit to the southern border last year. He dedicated his life to keeping our State and Nation safe. May he rest in peace.”
The police department said Faveroth was preparing to deploy in April.
Louisiana governor, other police departments express condolences
Law enforcement agencies across Louisiana also paid tribute to Faveroth.
“Sheriff Claude J. Louis Jr. and the men & women of the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office send our prayers and heartfelt condolences to the St. Gabriel Police Department and the family and friends of Officer Darius Faveroth,” the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office shared.
The New Roads Police Department also honored his service, saying “Our prayers and condolences go out to the St. Gabriel Police Department in loss Ofc. Darius Faveroth. Please keep his family in your prayers. We have the watch from here, EOW 03-23-25, Never Forgotten!”
The White Castle Police Department, where Faveroth previously served, posted their condolences on social media.
“HEARTBREAKING: To the Spouse, Family, Friends, Co-Workers and The St. Gabriel Police Department, We, your extended family at the White Castle PD, send our deepest condolences to you concerning the loss of Our colleague, friend, OUR BROTHER, Lt. D. Faveroth!! You will be Missed Doc!!!!! Godspeed to us all,” the department said.
