LAFAYETTE, La. (
KLFY) — Amanda Blanco, librarian at Lafayette High School, was named the 2025 Louisiana School Librarian of the Year.
According to the Louisiana Library Association, the award seeks “to give recognition to a school librarian who has demonstrated outstanding work and dedication to the mission and goals of the library profession within the state of Louisiana.”
The announcement was made at the association’s annual conference in Baton Rouge on Saturday, according to a news release from the Lafayette Parish School System.
Blanco has served as a librarian for LPSS for over 12 years and has been an educator in the district for 20 years, the release read.
“Through her dedication, innovation, and leadership, Mrs. Blanco has made a lasting impact on her students, colleagues, and the broader educational community,” the release read. “Her passion for literacy and commitment to student success exemplify the qualities honored by this award.”
