“I want to address the handful of people who falsely claim they cannot reach anyone in my office or that I ‘refuse to hold town hall meetings.’ Let me set the record straight,” Rep. Barr wrote on Facebook.
He went on to push back against the claims, saying that he meets with constituents daily and hosts monthly office hours in every county of the Commonwealth’s Sixth Congressional District—something he has reportedly done for 13 years.
“What we will not do is provide a forum for individuals more interested in shouting and grandstanding than engaging in a respectful and constructive conversation,” Rep. Barr wrote. “Our goal is to foster real dialogue—not theatrics.”
Barr said that on Monday, his team will be hosting a telephone town hall to ensure a productive exchange of views where everyone has a chance to be heard.
