T/Sgt. and Mrs. T. C. Webb have returned to Camp Fosterfield, Texas, after spending his furlough with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Braswell.

Mr. and Mrs. Vayte Pal of South Carolina visited Mr. and Mrs. Kilmer Giles.

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Clapp have moved to Hanceville.

Dillard Huffman of Birmingham spent the week end with his family.

Mrs. Marion Franklin of Decatur, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Frankie Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Nuss and Mrs. Cliff Stewart were the Sunday guests of Mrs. Barbara Herndon.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sutton, W. R. Gable, Henry Glasscock, and Arthur Reid attended the Goodson Memorial singing in Welti, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Duke and Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Entrekin were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Davis.

Mrs. Sally Sizemore of Cullman spent the week end with her sister, Mrs. Barbara Herndon.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gable were the Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Burrow.

Herbert Almon was the Sunday guest of Ray Sutton.

J. H. Nuss spent Monday and Tuesday in Holly Pond.

Prominent Vinemont Resident Passes

Edward Jaegar, 69, died at his Vinemont home on Tuesday afternoon and funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Vinemont Baptist Church with Rev. Brown officiating and Moss-Service in charge of interment.

Pall bearers included S. E. Sandlin, Arthur Yates, Hubert Bradford, Lonnie Chaney, B. W. Lynch and George Webb.

Dianne Helmly Celebrates Fourth Birthday, Thursday

At a delightful party at Mrs. R. P. Johnston’s kindergarten on March 15 Dianne Helmly celebrated the fourth anniversary of her birth.

A color scheme of yellow and white was used by the honoree’s mother, Mrs. Cecil Helmly, who was assisted by Miss Louise Kreitlein.

Spring flowers and rabbits were used to decorate the refreshment table and each little guest was presented a puzzle favor.

Included at the party were Dawn Woodard, Donna Kinney, Linda Phillips, Kaye Keller, Joanne Hardin, Mason Pharr, David Higgins, Robie Roberson, Sally Clara Price, Larry Ragsdale, Albert Lorenz, Jr., Barbara Yost, Dorothy Stancil, Mary Whisenhunt, Nancy Beatty, Joanne Phillips, Jorene Burgess, Malinda Bailey, Bill Fisher, and the honoree’s father, Rev. Cecil Helmly.

Pvt. Robert A. McCormick, of Fort Knox, Ky., spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McCormick.

Therline Cupp and Betty Faye Harbison spent Sunday with Mrs. Grady Calhoun.

Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McCormick and family attended a birthday dinner at the home of his mother, Sunday. She was 80 years old. Eight children, fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and other guests attended.

Mrs. W. E. Wallace spent Sunday evening with Mrs. Lily Jane Duke.

Buddy and Edward Calhoun spent Sunday afternoon with Jack and Edward McCormick.

Pvt. Gordon E. and Pfc. Other D. McCormick, sons of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McCormick, are stationed somewhere in Germany.

STAFF SERGEANT ROBERT LOWREN MAYFIELD, husband of Sophia Holcombe Mayfield, of Route 7, Cullman, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Mayfield of Route 1, Steppville, was killed in action in Germany, February 26, according to a wire from the War Department received March 17th.

Sgt. Mayfield went into the Army in November, 1942, and had been overseas with the 3rd Army since September. A brother, Chalmers, is now in an Army Hospital in England suffering from trench-foot. Another brother, Hugh, is in the Merchant Marines. Surviving also is a sister, Elaine, and a twelve year old brother, Bernard.
