The incident happened just before 6 a.m. Friday on the 1500 block of South Pulaski Road in the North Lawndale neighborhood.
Police said the woman was in the crosswalk when she was struck by a 24-year-old man traveling northbound in an SUV.
The driver continued northbound and was not on scene when officers arrived, but later relocated and reported the he’d been in a traffic crash, according to police.
The woman sustained multiple injuries to the body and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
No citations have been issued at this time. Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
