Williamsburg police arrest man for alleged parole violation, drug possession

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (FOX 56) — A suspicious vehicle call led to Williamsburg police finding a man with a parole violation warrant as well as allegedly having drugs and other illegal contraband.

The Williamsburg Police Department (WPD) posted on Facebook that on Thursday, March 20, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in response to reports of a suspicious vehicle there.

When officers arrived, they encountered Michael Lawson, 33, who was allegedly “highly intoxicated.” Lawson was found to have a warrant for parole violation and was arrested.

Following his arrest, a search showed that he allegedly had methamphetamine and other illegal contraband, the WPD wrote.

In addition to charges connected with his parole violation warrant, Lawson was charged with:

  • first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third offense: methamphetamine
  • Second-degree possession of a controlled substance – unspecified
  • Third-degree possession of a controlled substance – unspecified
  • Public intoxication: controlled substance excluding alcohol
  • Possession of marijuana

He was lodged in the Whitley County Jail.
