Suspect in Southern University campus shooting booked into East Baton Rouge jail
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Jail records show that the suspect accused of a shooting at a Southern University dorm that left one injured has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Southern University police officers responded to a reported shooting at Jones Hall around 7 p.m. March 2. An affidavit states Joiner and the victim contacted each other through a social media app and agreed to meet for a haircut. Joiner is accused of pulling out a gun and cocking it before a shot was fired and struck the victim. Detectives believe the altercation stemmed from an outstanding debt.
Joiner faces charges of carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon in a firearm-free zone, attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons. No bond amount has been set at the time of the publishing of this article.
