Storm survey: EF1 tornado touched down near northern Kentucky airport

BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) —The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down on Wednesday, March 19, near Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) in Hebron Wednesday night.

A storm survey team found an EF-1 tornado with 105 m.p.h. winds touched down just west of KY-237 near an industrial site.

The tornado continued to move northeast, uprooting trees before tracking across CVG, where it caused extensive wall and roof damage to an industrial building and moved a 747 plane.

Several cars also received damage from flying debris before the tornado eventually lifted.
