The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have agreed to a two-year deal with the veteran wide receiver.
Cooks started his pro football career in New Orleans as the Saints’ 20th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. In three years with the black and gold, he recorded 251 catches for 2,861 yards and 21 total touchdowns in 42 games.
Cooks’ career would continue his career with the New England Patriots (2017), Los Angeles Rams (2018-19), Houston Texans (2020-22), and Dallas Cowboys (2023-24).
During that 11-year run, he finished with 1,000 yards receiving six times.
His 98-yard touchdown reception in the Saints’ week one matchup against the Raiders in 2016 was the longest play from scrimmage in franchise history.
The Saints lost that game, 35-34. The starting quarterback for the Raiders was Derek Carr, who will be Cooks’ new quarterback in New Orleans.
