Major traffic accident in Lafayette Parish

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Drivers in Lafayette Parish are advised to avoid West University Avenue after a major traffic accident caused a diesel spill.

Around 8 p.m., the Lafayette Police Department responded to a major traffic accident in the 2000 block of W University Ave.

Officials said he crash involved a semi-truck with a box trailer and two other vehicles, resulting in a significant diesel fuel spill.

All lanes of West University Avenue, between West Simcoe Street and Cameron Street are currently closed. Officials said motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

Details regarding the cause of the accident are under investigation. No injuries have been reported at this time.
