According to Rock County District Attorney Jason Sanders, Morales had been drinking in October 2023 when he “flew into a rage during an argument” and pursued the woman as she left in her car, shooting out her tire and then shooting at her.
Police said Morales fired his weapon 12 times while intoxicated, and then engaged officers in a 14-mile high-speed chase that reached speeds of 124 mph.
He also discarded his two firearms in a residential area, which were later recovered.
In October 2024, Morales was found guilty by a Rock County Jury.
He was sentenced on March 21st, 2025.
“He not only chased her and shot at her to demonstrate his power and control,” Assistant District Attorney Rich Sullivan said at the sentencing hearing, “but he endangered the entire community. When he was out of bullets in his gun, he decided to use his other weapon – his vehicle. He would not stop. He needed to control. It was only because of the skill of Sergeant Welte that he was stopped, and only by the grace of god that no one was hurt.”
