According to the Indianapolis Metro Police Department, officers were called around 3:08 p.m. to the 9100 block of Wellston Drive, on the report of a person shot.
When police arrived, IMPD said they found an adult male inside a residence with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced deceased on the scene after emergency medical services arrived, IMPD said.
Police added that a possible person of interest was taken into custody without issue. A firearm was also located on the scene.
IMPD said they are still investigating what led up to the shooting, but they believe it to be an isolated incident. There is no remaining threat to the community at this time.
“No conflict is worth losing your life over,” said IMPD Officer Drew Brown, emphasizing that picking up a firearm and conflicting with another person could lead to lifelong consequences.
Those with information on this incident are encouraged to contact IMPD’s Homicide Office at (317) 327-381. Alternatively, anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
