The business-reviewing platform released its list of the top seafood restaurants in every state earlier this month and, in Oregon, South Bay Wild Fish House nabbed the title.
Found on 262 9th St. in Astoria, the eatery is co-owned by husband and wife Rob Seitz and Tiffani Seitz. Rob and other local fishermen catch the fish that is served in the restaurant, and also sold at the Seitz’s market.
Yelp reported that customers’ favorite dishes from South Bay Wild Fish include the clam chowder and rockfish and chips.
“Some items, like the smoked black cod (which won a Good Food Awards prize in 2017 for exceptionally delicious food that meets environmental responsibility standards) can be a little pricey, but a little goes a long way atop their ‘pillowy and crispy’ fry bread,” Yelp added.
This isn’t South Bay Wild Fish House’s first mention on the popular reviewing platform. In 2024, it was one of three Oregon businesses featured on the list of America’s top 100 seafood restaurants.
The Astoria spot secured a place in the top 10, at No. 9. Newport’s Local Ocean Seafood was ranked at No. 81, while Seasons & Regions Seafood Grill in Portland was ranked at No. 97.
Over in Washington, Yelp ranked Seattle’s Local Tide as the best seafood spot.
The business started as a pop-up at Pike Place Market, and opened its brick-and-mortar location in 2020. Its menu includes sandwiches, bowls and other dishes like crab rolls, smoked salmon belly dip and fried oysters.
Local Tide was also included in Yelp’s 2024 roundup, along with Washington restaurants The Crawfish Hut, Saltwater Fish House & Oyster Bar and Pike Place Chowder.
