(WJW) – More than 16,000 bottles of a popular laundry detergent are being recalled due to a risk of bacteria exposure which could cause serious infection, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall applies to certain 50 fluid-ounce bottles of Woolite Delicates
“The recalled products can contain Pseudomonas species bacteria, including Pseudomonas oleovorans, an environmental organism found widely in soil and water,” reads the recall notice. “People with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment.”
According to CPSC, the bacteria can enter the body through the eyes or a break in the skin. People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected by the bacteria.
So far, CPSC said no illnesses have been reported.
