Woman dies after jumping from third-floor window during South Chicago home invasion

CHICAGO — A woman has died after jumping from a residence during a home invasion in South Chicago Saturday.

At around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, later identified as Mariah Ivy, were inside a third-floor apartment in the 8000 block of South Manistee.

An unknown suspect then entered the home and fired a shot at both the man and Ivy. They then jumped from a third-floor window.

Ivy sustained blunt trauma to the body and was transported in critical condition. She was pronounced dead on Monday.

The man sustained injuries to both legs and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
