MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A federal indictment was filed against a Byhalia, Mississippi minister after he allegedly sent an inappropriate image to someone he thought was an underage girl.

Britt Taylor is accused in the indictment of sending a message containing a photo of male genitals to an undercover law enforcement officer who he believed to be a girl under the age of 16 on Dec. 6 last year.

Taylor was charged with one count of Transfer of Obscene Material to Minor. An Apple iPhone was seized by the Department of Homeland Security in January.

Taylor is a former music minister for Calvary Baptist Church in Horn Lake, the church confirmed. He was terminated Jan. 7 after confessing, the church said.

On Monday, January 6, 2025, Britt Taylor (who was the Minister of Music of Calvary Baptist Church at that time) called Pastor Greg Cook late in the evening to confess that he had engaged in online sexual misconduct and that his activity was being investigated as criminal activity. Pastor Greg immediately contacted and informed church leadership that evening and the following day, Tuesday, January 7th, officially terminated Mr. Taylor based on his own confession. We want to be clear, Britt Taylor committed acts of sexual misconduct which directly go against our church’s teaching, our church’s policies, and our church’s practice. Regarding the legal nature of this situation, we are fully cooperative with law enforcement.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to no more than 10 years behind bars and up to $250,000 in fines.
