Chicago police said the incident unfolded just after 6 p.m. in the 100 block of West Van Buren Street when the victim, a 27-year-old man, and an unknown offender got into an argument.
According to police, the argument escalated and that is when the offender pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the man in the chest and arm before he fled the scene.
The victim was later taken to the hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.
No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing and an investigation is underway.
