Avalanche causes road closures in Little Cottonwood Canyon

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.

ALTA, Utah (ABC4) — An avalanche on Tuesday evening caused closures of SR-210 in Little Cottonwood Canyon, according to officials.

UDOT Cottonwood Canyons said in a social media post that uphill traffic was closed up north, and downhill traffic has been advised to return to parking areas.

Detective Bennett with the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office told ABC4.com that three vehicles were involved in the avalanche, but there were no injuries reported.

The avalanche occurred in an area near Snowbird, Bennett said. There is no estimated time for the roads to reopen as of yet.

ABC4.com has reached out to officials to learn more.
