The chilling 911 call details what may have led to the deadly March 15 shooting.
“911,” the dispatcher said.
“I just shot at my mother,” Rich calmly stated.
Authorities told FOX 56 it happened around 9 p.m. at a Burnett Road home off KY-229.
“She has no pulse,” Rich told the dispatcher. “I don’t know what to do.”
She tells the dispatcher she shot her mother around five times with a pistol outside the Burnett Road home.
“I’m holding blankets on her wounds, and she don’t have a pulse,” Rich continued. “There’s a lot of blood.”
“Explain to me what happened before shots were fired,” the dispatcher asked.
“She came at me. Trying to hurt me and choke me. It’s been going on for a while now. I haven’t been able to go out of the house,” Rich alleged through the sounds of tears. “I shot at her, once, and I think she tried to take it from me.”
The dispatcher stayed on the line until authorities could arrive.
“I have help on the way. They’re about to pull in, and they’re going to want to talk to you. I need you to go out and meet them,” the dispatcher said. “Listen, they want to talk to you. I need you to walk outside. I need to walk outside and put your hands up, Brianna.”
“Are you out there with them?”
“Yeah,” Rich answered before shouting overpowered her end of the line.
“Get on the ground! Get on the ground now,” a deputy can be heard shouting.
Rich’s mother, Carol Rich, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
She’s been charged with murder and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center on a $250,000 bond.
