Student in Natchitoches earns MVP recognition at Superbowl

NATCHITOCHES (KTAL/KMSS) — A student in Natchitoches is receiving special recognition for his act of kindness.

Justin Lee, a 28-year-old student at Northwestern State University, was honored for his work as an NFL teammate volunteer during Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans. He was named a teammate MVP by MOONSHOT, the provider of customer service training for the NFL. Lee was one of 28 students selected to help with guest experiences and staff gear distribution.

While working in the stadium fan service operations, Lee noticed a young child crying in the foyer just outside of his work area. Seeing that the child’s parents were struggling to calm him, he gave the child his commemorative Super Bowl pin. The gesture caused the child to stop crying and become excited.

Dr. Haley Blount, a professor in NSU’s Department of Health and Performance, commented that it was a simple yet touching and selfless moment. When selecting teammates for Super Bowl week, the NFL looks for individuals who are friends, reliable and team orientated.

“Going to the Super Bowl was a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Lee said. “Not only being able to see the Super Bowl in person, but be able to help behind the scenes, is something that I will never forget.”
