Sandy City celebrates new sister city in Ukraine

SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — Sandy City Mayor Monica Zoltanski, along with city council members, residents, and representatives of the Utah Ukrainian Association, gathered at a celebration on Monday to mark a new sister city relationship with Bucha, Ukraine.

The partnership between the two cities was first approved unanimously back in November 2024 by the Sandy City Council, and another agreement was signed by Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk back in December.

The celebration on Monday came after a months-long discussion between the two cities. The sister-city relationship would allow Sandy City to participate in various cultural and student exchanges, economic cooperation, tourism, and humanitarian efforts with the city of Bucha.

Bucha is the third sister city relationship for Sandy, as the city has other agreements with Piedras Negras, Mexico, and Riesa, Germany.
