PECO power outage causes lights out at 30th Street Station

PECO is reporting a power outage affecting the area of 30th Street in Center City.

A PECO spokesperson told PHL17 the power outage began at 4:40 a.m. and was caused by a “brief fire” and overheating wires underground.

At its peak, 500 customers were affected. As of 8 a.m., only 15 customers are now impacted.

PECO previously estimated the power to be returned at 8:30 a.m. but as of that time., the lights on the 30th and 31st are still inoperable.

SEPTA’s William H. Gray 30th Street station is still operating, although elevators and escalators are out of service.
