Pattersonville man faces bomb possession, firearms charges

PATTERSONVILLE – A Pattersonville man is facing felony charges after state troopers say he had explosives in the garage and had fired gunshots inside his home.

Paul Kline, 62, of 541 Pattersonville Road, was charged last week with felony possession of weapons of mass destruction and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper Zachary McDonald on Thursday, troopers were called to Kline’s home around 10:30am for a report of a disturbance.

Dispatchers were told Kline was acting erratically and had fired shots off the porch and one inside the home.

Arriving troopers found Kline sitting in a vehicle. He ignored police commands, walked to the shed, started a tractor, and used it to block the driveway.

Eventually, he was taken into custody.

The victim told troopers that Kline had been acting unusually lately. One time, the victim was awoken by Kline who said “There’s gonna be some loud bangs here,” saying he was going outside when asked why. He fired eight shots. He also mentioned something about a cat with chicken feathers in its mouth, the victim told troopers, and he said he “didn’t know if he’s gonna shoot the cat through the window or through the screen.”

Towards the end of the interview, the victim told troopers that Kline mentioned pipe bombs in the garage.

The State Police Hazardous Device Explosives Section was activated and seized a cardboard tube with a green hobby fuse that was a suspected pipe bomb.

He was arraigned and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $150,000 bail.
