Philadelphia police are searching for two men who allegedly attacked a man inside of the locker room of a Planet Fitness gym in South Philadelphia last month.

Authorities released surveillance video of the suspects from the night of the attack in hopes that the public can help identify them.

It happened on February 19 inside the Planet Fitness on the 2300 block of W. Oregon Avenue at 12:20 a.m.

Video shows the suspects hanging around the front counter area for a while before they eventually made their way to the locker room, police said.

When the suspects entered the locker room, police said they began to attack a man, repeatedly punching him throughout his head and body until he lost consciousness.

After the attack, the suspects ran out of the gym, according to police.

The victim was transported to the hospital. Police have not released an update on his condition.

According to Action News at 10, the victim was in his 20s. Police said the victim didn’t know the suspects.

“These males were not members. They were allowed to go back, so the reason why they were allowed to go back is unknown at this time,” said Captain Trina Pendleton with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Though police believe this was a random attack, gym-goers say it’s very unsettling for them.

“It’s horrible. You should be able to come in and work and not worry about getting beat up,” said Anthony Juliana from Aston Township.

“I don’t think anything like that should be happening here. This is a place to work out. This isn’t a place for that,” another gym-goer added.

The motive for the attack is still unknown.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 215.686.TIPS (8477).
