MADISON COUNTY, Ind. — Two individuals were injured after a reported crash in Madison County between a farming semi and a school bus on Monday afternoon.

According to officials with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched the the crash around 2:30 p.m. on Monday near the intersection of 1550N and 300E near Summitville.

The department said that a 2010 Kenworth farming semi hauling corn was traveling southbound on 300E when the driver, identified as a 19-year-old from Summitville, reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign at 1550N. The semi then collided with a Madison Grant school bus, driven by a 35-year-old Gaston resident. The school bus did not have any children on it at the time.

Officials said the impact of the two vehicles sent both off the roadway, causing each vehicle to turn on its side. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital. The driver of the semi was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

The crash remains investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department’s accident investigation team.
