By rssfeeds-admin FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead in a busy roadway in Downtown Fresno Saturday evening, the California Highway Patrol announced.
According to CHP, just before 8 p.m. they responded to reports of a person lying in the middle of the onramp from Golden State Boulevard onto northbound Highway 99.
Responding officers report they found a deceased woman in the roadway who had injuries leading them to believe she was hit by a vehicle.
Investigators say a witness told them of a truck pulling a trailer that was swerving, however, CHP is unsure if the truck was swerving to avoid her body. CHP suspects she could have been run over by multiple vehicles as the area is dark and has heavy traffic.
The identity of the woman is pending release from the coroner’s office.
CHP is actively investigating the incident.
