Otherwise, high pressure will briefly build in on Sunday into Monday, bringing warm, breezy conditions to Utah. The warmup will be short lived. Another storm system will move in Monday night as a strong cold front moves in, bringing snow down to the valley floors into Tuesday morning.
As the storm arrives Monday, southeast winds will pick up and likely gust to 40-45 mph. Showers will also increase in coverage through the evening along the western half of the state. As the cold front pushes in late Monday night into Tuesday, winds will shift to northwest and temperatures plunge changing rain over to snow. Snow levels will drop down to the valley floors for most areas with actual snow levels around 2,500-3,000 feet. Valley accumulations are likely into Tuesday morning and should amount to an inch or two. The Salt Lake Valley could see over 2” if lake-effect snow kicks in. Mountains can expect roughly 6-12” of snow, with locally higher amounts in the Cottonwoods.
By midweek, a brief warmup brings calmer weather through early Thursday before another system arrives, potentially bringing more mountain snow and valley rain. Stay tuned!
